Hope on Home Solar Panels
High electric costs are one of the common reasons why people are looking for alternative sources of energy and one of these is solar energy. With the help of solar devices, sunlight can now be converted to electricity. Home solar panel is a simple, flat device that turns sun’s radiation to usable electric power. This is also known as photovoltaic panels or PV panels with the name derived from its meanings; “photo” which pertains to light while “voltaic” refers to electricity.
It works pretty much like photosynthesis. When the sunlight strikes the surface of the panel, the photons or light energy is absorbed by the silicon surface which acts as a semiconductor. Then the absorbed energy is turned into positive and negative electric charges that are transmitted to an external circuit which would provide direct current (DC) electricity. This electricity can be stored in batteries or inverted to produce an alternating current (AC) which is needed in running lights and appliances. This process is called the photovoltaic effect.
The panels should be installed at strategic locations where you can maximize the sun’s rays. The sun produces more heat from 9am to 3pm so the panel should be installed in an area that will be free from shade during these hours. It can be fixed on the roof, on top of a tree or placed on the ground with a stand giving you more options in choosing the space where it will be placed.
Having home solar panels installed your home can give you a lot of benefits. First, you can really save a lot of money. Since the energy from the sun is free, you will only spend for the device and installation. Second, it has low or no maintenance fee. Because it is a stand-alone device you can just leave it as it is. Third, it can give you electric independence. No need to tie-up with your utility company to give you electricity because the panels produce the energy you need. Lastly, it is environment-friendly. It doesn’t have any emissions plus it reduces the harmful greenhouse gasses as well. GP
